Our Story
Typically, the story in the “about us” page of most web sites includes how the idea of opening a store/starting a food business transpired because of childhood memories – cooking and creating in the kitchen with loved ones. Or, how a hobby was so awe inspiring that it had to be turned into a business. Well, that isn’t my story. I never created anything with chocolate during my childhood, nor was chocolate ever a hobby. But I went on to open a chocolate inspired store?!. How does that even happen?
Well, although I never worked with chocolate I always wanted to open a food business. What I love and find awe inspiring is connecting with people through food. The business aspect was always appealing to me because of the challenge. So, of course, there were different avenues I could have taken but I chose chocolate because, as I’ve confirmed, there are very few people who don’t like chocolate. Chocolate is fun, happy and pretty much always a real treat. And it just happened that everywhere I turned there were chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate stuffed pretzels, and chocolate covered alot of other things. So, the concept was born. But, my problem now was that chocolate is very nuanced, temperamental and not the easiest to work with. How can I open a store without the background? Well, that was solved when I met an incredible master chocolatier who agreed to work with me, guide me, teach me, support me and walk along me every step of the way. To say she’s incredible is an understatement. She has taught me everything about chocolate that was needed to start a business that, without a doubt, people will love. And that’s where we are today.
The whole journey, from start to finish, has had its challenges. However, I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m beyond thrilled to be where I am. To be able to offer products that are made from the finest quality ingredients, to create everything by hand, to hear the wonderful feedback. I’m beyond thrilled to have met and connected with so many lovely people, whether it’s at the store in Larchmont, NY or the people I met along the way to getting to Larchmont.
In conclusion, I may not have had the background but I had the inkling to know that whatever I decided to do, if I did it with a passion, if I used the highest quality ingredients and if I did it with a willingness to connect with people it would work out just fine. I stand by that. Thanks for giving The Dressed Pretzel and Co. a try. I promise that you won’t be disappointed.
